As I spoke about in the previous article, the main struggle of a rising Ethlete is is the balance of work and play. Most commonly is having to deal with school work. Ideally we would have all the time to practice our game bit this is never the case. I typically aim for 2 hours a day and even that is hard to achieve at times. My largest secret that usually gains me time is to first off eliminate “Negative Time” and then to also knock out my school work for the week.
Getting motivation to actually do my homework without the push of an incoming deadline is more difficult then it sounds, but doing work early makes for a less stressful life. If there is something I want done early I find it hard to get the motivation to start. The overcome this I have come up with a technique where all I have to do is open up the the homework assignment, print it out, whatever it is, just have it accessible. I don’t tell myself I have to work on it that very moment, but its open and ready for when I do. Typically, then I will look away and something else and eventually I will just start working on it since it is open. This system has opened more free time then expected and just so happens to work for me. Perhaps this system or something else will work for you, but getting work out of the way for later in the week is a large part of my productivity for practice.
